5 Ways to Make Your Memphis Wedding Unique

You’re starting to plan your Memphis Wedding and you want to give your out-of-town-guests the full experience, but where do you start? There are so many fun ways that you can incorporate Memphis themes throughout your big day. I want to highlight just a few here!

1. Choose a historic Memphis landmark for your engagement session or wedding venue

There is some truly beautiful architecture here in Memphis! Picking one of these spots can make your day feel authentically Memphis just by being there. Memphis wedding venues like The Pink Palace, Annesdale Mansion, 409 S. Main, Old Dominick’s Distillery, Peabody Hotel, and the Cadre Building, just to name a few, all give off a very Memphis vibe. Not to mention, most are in the heart of downtown which makes for a fun sight-seeing experience for your guests. If you want to incorporate some of these spots into your big day but don’t necessarily want to get married at one you could always use the location for your Memphis engagement session if you’re planning to take those photos in town.

2. Give your guests a taste of Memphis’ best eats

Do you and your fiancé have a favorite spot around town? Think about incorporating it into your menu for your wedding day. Most all restaurants are willing to cater! Guests love getting a taste of the city while learning something new about you. We think it’s so fun when couples put signs at the table or the buffet that say “Bride’s favorite entrée” or “Groom’s favorite dessert”. It’s a fun way to add personality to the eating portion of your big day!

3. Themed favors

You could have so much fun with this one! Elvis themed anything— mints, cookies, or cups are a great addition to the day. If you’re a Grizzlies fan, having personalized growl towels made is really fun! Seasoning from Central BBQ, chocolate from Dinstuhl’s, or jam from a local favorite spot are all ways to add a little Memphis flare.

4. Incorporate Memphis musicians

There are some amazing bands in Memphis that have a very bluesy feel. It’s always a treat to hear that old, authentic blues sound. Your guests will love dancing the night away with that type of entertainment. If a band is not in the budget, aim to play a few Memphis artists during the reception! Elvis’s “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” is a no brainer! Check out this post for more ideas on artists to use.

5. Give guests a look into Memphis life

Provide guests with a list of things to do in the area is a great idea. Guests coming from out of town generally plan to spend an extra day or so in the city exploring—there are so many fun things to do in Memphis! Having a list of your favorite spots makes their time in the Memphis that much more personal. You could even break it down by category!
